CARACAL THEFT
Witness statement from James King (30),
I was out walking my dog, Spot, he’s a golden Labrador and he loves to run and chase a ball which I always carry to throw for him, it’s a red ball with a bell in it and just hearing it makes Spot jump and down with excitement, he’s chased this ball ever since I had him as a puppy and he’s nearly eleven years old now, which is quite old for a dog but we always feed him the best of food and make sure he gets lots of exercise and that’s why we were out walking so late in the evening, anyway, I saw this woman wrestling with something alive in a sack coming away from the Wildlife Park. I thought this was really odd, so I offered help but she refused. She had her hood up and it was quite dark so I couldn’t see a lot of her face but what I did see made me think she was probably older than me, but not a pensioner.
A police forensic examination of the scene from where the
caracal was stolen revealed a human hair
which looked like this under the microscope.

Further close examination of the enclosure revealed part of
a shoe print which was discovered to be, after ruling out all the keepers’
shoes, a woman’s, and very large, certainly bigger than a size 9.
