Witness Statement Stuart Jones Age 71

I was just turning away from looking at the owls when I felt a sort of push in my back. I staggered a bit as I am not as good on my feet as I used to be and when I turned round I saw a person disappearing round the side of the cages. I am pretty sure it was a man. I thought at the time it was a bit odd for anyone to be running around like that at the Wildlife Park. I didn’t really get a good look at him though.

I was standing at the Snowy owl’s cage with my 2 sons, Johnny and Paul , having a last look at them before we went home. Johnny is a great fan of Harry Potter and he thought the Snowy owl looked like Hedwig from the film. Anyway this young man kept walking past. I didn’t really notice him at first it was Paul who said to me,

“Look mum there’s that man again.”

He was quite tall. Much taller than me and I am 168cm. I didn’t like the way he kept hanging about so I just grabbed my boys and we left. I didn’t think any more about him till I heard about the theft.

I was driving my tractor back to the farm last night about 7pm after I had been working all day in the top field when just as I was passing the entrance to the Wildlife Park a tall, young man ran out without looking. I very nearly hit him. He bumped into the tractor side. I got such a shock. He looked up at me straight in the cab window and shouted something really rude, Then he shook his fist at me and ran back up the road. He had the coldest blue eyes I had ever seen. They were scary. I was happy I had not run him over but now I am wondering what he was up to.

Witness Statement Miss Diane McTavish Age 23

I had been asked to take photos of all the animals in the Wildlife Park for the new information boards that are going to be put up in the Summer. Anyway I was just about to take a final photo of the Snowy owl when I realised there was someone standing close to me at the cage. It was a tall, young man. He was looking at the owl very closely. I had to put another film in my camera and as always I shot off the first one at the ground to check all was working. It was only when I got back to my lab and developed the pictures I found I had a picture of the man’s feet. Here it is. I hope it helps you get who did this terrible thing.
