From: James Brown

Incident: Wallaby theft, Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park

The witness is a lorry driver and reported seeing a man behaving strangely near to the Wildlife Park, as he passed on the way to make a delivery. ‘The man was close to the fence and was moving around, bending down to lift something’, he said. Mr Brown continued, ‘The fence at the Park is very high and from that, I think the man was tall but not as tall as two metres.’

Witness Statement

From: Jean Smith

Incident: Wallaby theft, Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park

Mrs Smith was walking her dog near to the Wildlife Park. She saw a man tampering with the fence near to where the Wallaby is kept. ‘I got a look at him as he turned towards me. I don’t think he saw me, as he continued to tamper with the fence,’ she said. ‘The fence at the park is probably over two metres tall, but I don’t think he was as tall as the fence, maybe he was just less than that.’

Scenes of Crime Report

Incident: Wallaby theft, Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park

The only clue found at the scene was a print from

a training shoe. From its size, we estimate the

shoe to be smaller than size 6.

In addition, the CCTV picture at the Park did record a man moving around the fence and entering the Wallaby enclosure. The only information this provided was the colour of his hair – white / blonde. The camera angle meant the intruder could be seen only from behind.
